You have two possibilities to send a message:

To a person in your buddy list
Simply choose someone from your buddy list and send the message

To a person who is not on your buddy list
Go to the nickpage of this member and click on messenger under "contact".
You may add this member to your buddy list at a later stage.

Inbox

Click on your Inbox to check for new messages.

The system checks automatically if you have any new messages. If you do have a new message, the messenger will pop up automatically (pop up) and the Icon "New Message" flashes.
In your settings, you can adjust the time the system checks your messages. Standard setting is 3 minutes. To adjust this, go to your messenger settings.



New Messages can be recognized through the icon that looks like an unopened envelope. Once you have read the message, the system will delete this message after 5 days automatically. 

Outbox

All messages you send, will be saved in your outbox. After 3 days, the system will delete these messages automatically.

Buddy List

To add a new Buddy, click on this icon: Neuer Buddy
	[ Green ] User is Online
	[ Red ] User is Offline
	[ Brown ] User is invisible Means, that the user could be on- or offline.
"Ignore"	You can block unwanted messages from certain users, with this "Ignore" Function.  Note: You cannot ignore users on your buddy list. You would have to delete this buddy first and then put her on ignore.
"Remove Ignore"	By clicking on this smiley, you can remove ignored Users from your "Ignore List" and you will receive their messages again.
Edit	You can give your Buddy a new name. This will only be visible for you.

Who is Online?

"Who is online" displays, who is currently surfing on SHOE. To send a message to other users, go to their nickpage and send her a message either by Instant Messenger, Email or leave a note in her personal guestbook.

If you are sending messages to a person frequently, it is easier, if you add her to your buddy list. 

Check "Buddy List" for further information on how to send a message.

Search for User

Are you looking for women in your area? Click on "Search User" and all members in your country will be displayed. If you are interested in browsing profiles from other countries, click on "Change SHOE-lalallalaland" at the top right hand corner and choose a different country.

Settings

Settings allows you to adapt the messenger to your personal liking

• How often should the system check for new messages? (Check Mail)
• After how many days should we send you a reminder email to let you know, that you have a new message
• Your Online Status
• Choose, whether other members have to ask for your authorization first, before they can take you on their buddy list.

View my Profile

Every User on SHOE has their own nickpage with a personal guestbook. To edit or update your personal information on your nickpage, go to: MySHOE > Personal Settings or click on "View my Profile" on your messenger.

General Questions / Answers

Q: How can I stop the messenger from constantly popping up?
(Most unwanted if my boss is standing right behind me...)

A: Go to the Messenger Settings and raise the minutes for the Check Mail. Of course, you can check your messages independent of the automatic check, by clicking on "Check Mail".

Q: The font size is too small for me. How can I change that?

A: The font size can be changed easily in your browser to adapt your personal need. This is how it's done:

- Internet Explorer: View > Textsize
- Netscape or Mozilla: View > Textzoom > bigger or smaller
- Opera: > View > Zoom > Choose zoom

Q: Which rules apply for sending messages?

A: The general rules of SHOE International apply. [ Read ] Especially: No spamming! No advertising!
