The official
rules / Netiquette of the SHOE International Network
The SHOE Community has a well-established and friendly community which is intended to offer
lesbians, bisexual and transgendered women the opportunity to find and offer friendship
and real support, to exchange personal experiences and to simply have fun being
a dyke. It is therefore our duty to keep this community a safe and welcoming place for all our members. We have had several years experience of managing this community (our first launch was in
1997) and these rules have evolved with our experience to ensure the SHOE
Community remains a friendly, fun and supportive environment for everyone. The rules govern your use of the
SHOE International Network forums, board, mailinglists and chatroom specifically, but are also relevant to member content areas (nickpages,
instant messenger, photo gallery posts)- they're mostly about common sense and courtesy, but your adherence to them will help to ensure that everyone has a positive experience on SHOE.
Most important rule: The SHOE-Teams decision is final.
The SHOE-Team (About us) can edit or delete messages as we see fit, it is our sole discretion. This is for your benefit and is to ensure the
community stays friendly, fun and supportive. If you feel unable to accept this rule, then we politely request that you find what you seek
in communities elsewhere.
General
Information about the SHOE Membership
- The member area
is for women only - with the exception of Promoter Profiles to list events
in the SHOE-Guide
- False and / or invalid profiles will be deleted
- Only one profile may be registered per person
- Do not impersonate another person

Houserules
of the SHOE Community
Remember that the people behind the nicknames are real human beings with
real feelings. Treat others the same way you want to be treated.
We encourage a healthy
exchange of opinions and disagreements are allowed! By all means challenge
an opinion – but please do it respectfully.
- Do not flame or personally insult another user. Please do not harass,
threaten or attack anyone, or behave in any way that would cause annoyance
or distress to other users. This includes the use of offensive nicknames and
usernames.
- Do not try to force your opinion on other users. Remember the world is a
big place full of very different people. They may have different views and
opinions. Respect them! Attack the issue, not the person.
- Do not recruit our members to join another website forum or chat group, whether personal or otherwise. If you are approached to join another group/site as a result of your SHOE membership/posts on our network
please advise us.
- Any type of advertising is strictly prohibited. Wish to advertise with us?

- Please use the SHOE Guide to list your organisation, Bar, Club, Event.
It's free! Any information that can be posted in the SHOE Guide will get
deleted if posted anywhere else. This goes also for non-profit
organisations, sportsclubs, choirs etc.
- Organisations of any type, yes non-profit too, are not allowed to recruit
new members via SHOE. Use the SHOE Guide to get listed.
- And finally... Don't trust ANYBODY enough to give them any personal
information - not even email addresses. To stay in contact with other
members, please use your nickpage or the instant messenger until you feel
like you can trust them.
Abuse of the SHOE Houserules / Netiquette will be handled as follows:
- 1 Warning = Yellow Card
Action taken: None. User will receive a formal warning.
- 2nd Warning
Action taken: User will be banned for 1 month from the website. User will get notification of this action by email.
- 3rd Warning = Red Card
Action taken: User will be banned permanently from the Website. User will get notification of this action by email.
These warnings/actions apply to ALL members. Basic and SHOELace Members alike. We will not make a difference between free and paid membership.
If you break the SHOE Houserules you have to deal with the consequences. |

Houserules on
posting messages in general
- Do not spam! You WILL get banned immediately for lifetime!
- Do not post any links to other websites except where indicated. This
includes private homepages, organisations, events - no matter if they are non-profit or not.
- The publication of messages with explicit, sexual content, racist, sexist remarks, libel and other offensiveness are not
tolerated.
- Do not post anything, that might hurt somebody elses feelings, do not laugh at anyone
- Commercial messages (Advertising) of any type, the promotion of events,
yes non-profit too, are strictly prohibited. If you wish to advertise with
us, please download our Mediakit. If you have an event you want to publish,
please go to the SHOE-Guide.
- Messages from organisations, yes non-profit too, are not permitted.
- Organisations Journalists and TV researchers must not post requests for
participants on our network. For permission to post your request, please
email the SHOE-Team
- Do not post chain letters, promote pyramid schemes or recruit members for
any 'network marketing' businesses.
- Do not write in capital letters. It is considered screaming.

Photo Upload
Photos with any of the following content will be deleted without
comment. We also reserve the right to delete any photos, we think
are dubious or/and unsuitable for SHOE. Please do not email us asking why your
photo has been deleted.
General:
- By uploading photos you declare your consent for publication
- No photos to which you do not have the "rights" to use (copyright
infringement)
- You are allowing SHOE to use the photos uploaded for use of promotion of their online community.
- Photos with pornographic content incl. photos of nudes, breast shots, bathing suits
- Any image that is against the law and or which depicts cruelty and or inappropriate behavior
- SHOE reserves the right to delete any photos without comment.
- If you are not sure about your image, please do not post it.
Photos on your Nickpage:
The following photos may not be uploaded:
- Photos that include other people (and/or children). You have to be pictured alone
Exception: MySHOE Photoalbum*
- Photos with Email Addresses or Websites (Links, URLs)
- Photos with pornographic content incl. photos of nudes, breast shots, bathing suits
- Any image that is against the law and or which depicts cruelty and or inappropriate behavior
- Body without head
- Drawings, Comics and/or Star-Portraits
- Photo cutouts which are meaningless
- Photos where you are pictured too small or only parts of you (just your eyes for instance)
- Photos that have been manipulated so that no-one can tell what it should be
* MySHOE Photo Album: Upload more photos of yourself, your friends and/or family (SHOELace only)
Please make sure, you have selected the right category (Baby Photo, Current
Photo, MyPet etc...)

- For Non-gay related politics, War, Butch/Femme, Bisexuality and Non-gay related Religion, please use the forum.
- Emails directed at just one person. If it is part of an on-going discussion, then that's fine. Otherwise please contact the person through her personal nickpage
- Share-a-Ride offers and requests have to be posted in our special share-a-ride section of the website.
- Email addresses and phone numbers. You can always be contacted by your nickpage.
- Surveys
- Email addresses (to prevent unwanted emails and spam in your mailbox) and telephone numbers for your own safety!! Exception: Commercial Ads.
